My Favorite Fashion Creators!

My Favorite Fashion Creators!

Alright, this week, I am highlighting some of my favorite fashion creators on Instagram. The following accounts are ones that I've kept tabs on over the last few years and have influenced my personal style evolution from a tie-dye freak flag-waving young man to where we are today.

Don't get it twisted, though. That younger version of myself still influences the way I've been dressing. I'll toss the tie dye under the chunky knit and let you know the old me is still in there somewhere, but the following creators have really helped me take a more mature approach to my style within the last two years. An interesting note here is after formulating this list, I realized that all of these folks are from England! May God bless these blokes!

PS: All of their instagrams are linked if you click their account name in the title before the write up.

Shout out to my guy Marv one time! Marv's account was the first one that I found that inspired me to go on this journey with my style. We aren't reinventing the wheel here (or with any of these accounts), but his color pairings and the way he wears his clothes really stuck out to me.

What also stood out to me is how he recycles the same handful of pieces into different outfits, making me feel like I am looking at a different piece every time. In America, we always seem to have to buy more and more rather than work with what we have to create a strong foundation for a versatile wardrobe. Take notes from Marv! Find your staple pieces and figure out a way to build around those in multiple ways.

This is a common throughline with the way folks in England dress. It's going to be pretty basic in terms of garment selection. Still, the colors, textures, and fit are typically top-tier tier (unless you're one of those kids who wants to dress like Central Cee). Honestly, this is what a lot of the Dimes Square nerds are trying to replicate in NYC, but they are too smooth-brained to know where this styling comes from (Hint: It's not Clandestino).

Where are my Big Dawgs at!!! Shouts out to TikTok for bringing James into my life! Simply put. James kills it. And he's down with the Big Dawg Summer movement I've talked about for the last couple of years.

As a larger male trying to find creators on the web, it's always some guy dressed in a three-piece suit to go to the grocery store or something absolutely ridiculous. It's not practical, brother. Please take the clown costume off.

Okay, sorry for the rant, but yeah, James is the man. He goes for it and doesn't care what others think. At least, that's the vibe I get. But when you're throwing on a cropped shirt and short shorts, you cut yourself. You're stepping on necks and cashing checks. James is also head-to-toe in vintage, so we're working on that sustainability element here. Absolute legend.

Hang it in the Louvre. I wish Instagram had the profile song function of Myspace that plays when you scroll an account. Matt's account needs to have a Westside Gunn beat playing when you're on it because it truly feels like you're looking at some high art.

Similar to Ealing Man, Matt's use of colors and textures really stuck out to me and drew me to his account, not to mention his carousel posts that seamlessly blend the colors in his outfits with photos that fit the theme and color scheme in his outfits, an essential follow!

Although not technically a creator, Peggs & Son is a shop in Brighton, England, that has influenced my personal style, the shop, and my overall vision for photo styling and aesthetics, which I eventually want to achieve with Bungalow.

I mean, look at the layering in these shoots—absolute scenes! The overall curation of the shop is perfect to me, too; this is what you get when you have a vision and just go for it, don't waver, and don't feel pressured to curate for trends and what a mass audience is consuming. If you stay true to your artistic vision and point of view, you get a project that oozes authenticity and passion.
